Zaha Hadid and Suprematism, 2010 |
Seoul Desk at Galerie Gmurzynska, Art Basel June 13 - July 17, 2010 Galerie Gmurzynska, Zürich, Switzerland |
"Seoul Desk was part of an exhibit curated and designed by Zaha Hadid at Galerie Gmurzynska, coinciding with the 41st edition of Art Basel which juxtaposed works of the Russian Avant-Garde with the work of Zaha Hadid Architects. A bright explosion of Russian Works pierces through the contemporary works of Zaha Hadid in a dynamic black and white design. The dialogue of these works constantly shifts and realigns as one moves through the space focusing on four themes: Abstraction, Distortion, Fragmentation, and Floatation."
"Hadid's work translated the warped and anti-gravitational space of Russian avant-garde painting and sculpture of Kasimir Malevich, El Lissitzky and Alexander Rodchenko into her own unique architectural language."
